Community Reinvestment Area Residential Tax Abatement Program
The Community Reinvestment Area (CRA) Residential Tax Abatement Program provides a 15-year property tax abatement on the cost of all new construction in the designated CRA.
The abatement stays with the property for 15 years and would be transferred to new owners if the property is sold within that time-frame.
- To qualify, appropriate building permits must be issued by the Summit County Building Department.
- Upon completion of construction, the appropriate Certificate of Occupancy and signed final inspections must be obtained from the Summit County Building Department.
- The homeowner must complete and submit the CRA Tax Abatement Residential Application.
- Once the application and supporting documentation are complete, they are forwarded to the Summit County Auditor’s Office.
- The Summit County Auditor will conduct a field inspection to verify new construction, assess value and make tax adjustments.
